The Onkyo P-80 Network Preamplifier brings traditional high-performance stereo preamplification together with modern streaming, room correction, and digital connectivity. At its core is a premium 32-bit/768kHz stereo DAC complemented by Onkyo's patented DIDRC Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry. DIDRC is employed in the DAC's analog filter and phono circuitry to reduce high-frequency noise and help digital sources maintain a smooth, natural presentation. A fan-less architecture, extruded aluminum heat sink, rigid front panel, and three-piece chassis further address mechanical noise and vibration.

The P-80 is equally equipped for analog and digital systems. Three pairs of RCA line inputs are joined by a dedicated MM/MC phono stage, while HDMI ARC, coaxial, optical, and USB-A provide digital source connectivity. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA preamp outputs provide flexibility when pairing the P-80 with a power amplifier, while two independent subwoofer outputs support more sophisticated low-frequency systems. Network playback is available over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with support for Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, TuneIn, and Roon Ready operation.

Integrated Dirac Live Room Correction adds acoustic optimization directly to the stereo signal chain, with the included Limited version correcting frequencies from 20Hz to 500Hz and optional paid upgrades providing full-bandwidth correction and Dirac Live Bass Control. Onkyo's Fidelity IQ Auto Loudness system can also adapt playback according to listening volume and measurements taken with the setup microphone. Together, these technologies make the P-80 a flexible control center for systems combining vinyl, digital sources, streaming, subwoofers, and a dedicated stereo power amplifier.
