The Canton Reference 5 GS Edition takes the foundation of the Reference 5 and pushes it further with carefully selected component upgrades and additional fine-tuning. Developed under the direction of company founder Günther Seitz, the GS Edition is intended to represent the accumulated experience of more than five decades of Canton loudspeaker development. Its revised driver system, crossover, and connection hardware are all focused on delivering greater control, transparency, and refinement.
A newly developed DLC tweeter from Canton’s Reference Alpha technology uses a diamond-coated dome together with an integrated sound lens to improve high-frequency resolution and dispersion. The midrange and bass sections use Canton’s BCT, or Black Ceramic Tungsten, diaphragm technology, while the redesigned crossover incorporates selected Mundorf MKP capacitors to reduce losses and preserve signal integrity. Room Compensation allows the midrange and treble levels to be adjusted in 1.5 dB increments, giving you additional flexibility when matching the speakers to your room.
Gold-plated WBT nextgen™ terminals provide a secure, low-loss connection and support both bi-wiring and bi-amping configurations. The sculpted cabinet and downfire bass arrangement complete a design intended to combine precise acoustic performance with a distinctive Reference-series appearance. Canton positions the GS Edition as a limited special series built around its founder’s goal of extracting more performance from already established Reference designs.
