The Bryston BR-20 is a fully balanced stereo preamplifier that combines advanced analog source control, high-resolution digital conversion and network music streaming in one chassis. Its discrete Class A analog circuitry was developed specifically for the BR-20 and is rated at or below 0.0006% THD+N. Separate power supplies for its analog and digital sections help minimize interaction between circuits while preserving clarity, dimensionality and low-level musical detail.
Two pairs of balanced XLR inputs and two pairs of RCA inputs accommodate analog source components, while two balanced XLR output pairs can feed a power amplifier or additional system zone. The integrated DAC supports PCM through 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256, with AES/EBU, Toslink, coaxial and USB connections for external digital sources. The built-in player accesses music stored on USB drives and network servers and supports services including TIDAL, Qobuz, Roon, Internet radio and Radio Paradise.
A dedicated low-impedance headphone amplifier provides a separate listening path for demanding headphones, while the adjustable OLED display presents source, volume, sample-rate and track information. The BR-20 can be operated from its front panel, included infrared remote, web interface, RS-232 or IP connection. Optional configurations include Bryston’s moving-magnet phono stage and a four-input HDMI module capable of passing 4K HDR video and receiving DSD64 audio from compatible source components.
