The Bryston BP-19 is a high-performance analog stereo preamplifier developed using design advancements created for the company’s award-winning BR-20. Its fully balanced signal path extends from input to output and uses tightly matched, hand-selected components within a compact circuit architecture. An oversized toroidal transformer and optimized discrete operational amplifier help the BP-19 reproduce music with low noise, minimal distortion, precise imaging, and wide dynamic expression.
Two pairs of balanced XLR inputs and four pairs of unbalanced RCA inputs accommodate a complete collection of analog source components. Variable and fixed outputs are provided in both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA formats, allowing the BP-19 to feed a power amplifier, headphone amplifier, recorder, or additional audio zone. Vinyl listeners can select an optional version with Bryston’s BP-2 moving-magnet phono stage or a moving-coil transformer module offering 20dB or 30dB of additional gain.
The included infrared remote provides convenient control of source selection, volume, balance, mute, and other primary functions from the listening position. RS-232 and Ethernet connectivity support integration with compatible home-automation systems, while 12V trigger outputs can switch connected power amplifiers and other equipment. Available with 17-inch or 19-inch faceplates, rack-mount and custom-color options, the Canadian-built BP-19 is designed to serve as the long-term analog control center of a reference stereo system.
