The Bryston BD-225 2.0 is a high-efficiency Class D power amplifier designed to combine substantial output capability with lower heat generation and flexible system configuration. Each amplifier module delivers 225 watts RMS into 8 Ohms and 450 watts RMS into 4 Ohms, while the common chassis architecture can accommodate from one to six independent channels. This makes the BD-225 2.0 suitable for traditional two-channel systems as well as multichannel, active loudspeaker, and custom-install applications.
Unlike many Class D amplifiers that rely on switching power supplies, Bryston pairs its proprietary Class D modules with a substantial linear power supply, massive toroidal transformer, and 108,000µF of storage capacitance. Bryston developed this approach to provide the instantaneous current reserves required for demanding musical and cinematic transients without the dynamic compression that can occur when an amplifier exhausts its available power supply headroom. The BD-225 can provide up to 1,250 watts of continuous RMS output across its installed channels and as much as 3,750 watts for brief 100ms dynamic peaks.
System connectivity includes balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs, a 12V trigger for integration with automated systems, and a 29dB voltage gain with 1.5V input sensitivity. Its efficient Class D topology reduces heat dissipation while maintaining high power-handling capability, and multiple consumer and professional rack-mount faceplates allow the chassis to fit both audiophile and installation-oriented systems. The BD-225 2.0 is manufactured in Canada as part of Bryston’s current Class D amplifier family.
