The Audeze LCD-4z is a reference-level open-back planar magnetic headphone created to deliver the resolution, dynamic authority, and spacious presentation of the original LCD-4 with substantially easier amplifier requirements. Its efficient 15-Ohm design allows it to perform with a broad selection of headphone amplifiers, audio interfaces, portable players, and other compatible sources. A carefully balanced tonal presentation combines extended bass, a naturally warm midrange, detailed high frequencies, and an expansive soundstage for both critical evaluation and immersive music listening.
At the center of the LCD-4z is a large 106mm planar magnetic transducer using Audeze’s Nano-Scale Uniforce diaphragm. A powerful Double Fluxor magnet array maintains precise control across the diaphragm’s surface, while Fazor elements manage acoustic phase interaction as sound moves through the magnetic structure. Together, these technologies support fast transient response, low distortion, deep bass extension, and the fine low-level resolution required to reveal subtle spatial and textural information within a recording.
A cast-magnesium chassis and matching yokes provide a rigid structure while reducing weight compared with the original LCD-4 design. The carbon-fiber suspension headband, ventilated leather headstrap, and deep premium leather earpads distribute the headphone’s weight for greater comfort during extended listening. A specially tuned directional OCC copper cable terminates in a balanced 4-pin XLR connector, while supplied adapters provide compatibility with conventional 6.3mm and 3.5mm headphone outputs.
