The Atlantic Technology IN-BOX-155 LCR is a dedicated new-construction enclosure designed exclusively for the IWTS-155 LCR in-wall loudspeaker. It supplies the correct internal air volume needed to optimize the speaker’s acoustic performance and is required with the IWTS-155 LCR to maintain applicable THX certification. The enclosure also provides moderate sound isolation, helping reduce the amount of sound transmitted into the room behind the installed speaker.

Pre-installed polyester fiber batting supplies the proper amount of acoustic damping and should remain in its original position without being compressed or supplemented. The enclosure is designed for standard 2" x 4" framing with studs spaced 16" on center, although installation in 24" on-center framing is possible with additional structural support. Its front face must remain flush with the front of the wall studs, and the compatible speaker may be installed vertically or horizontally according to the drywall opening.

Atlantic Technology recommends using construction-grade adhesive and screws to secure the enclosure and surrounding drywall firmly to the wall structure. Proper installation helps minimize vibration, buzzing, rattling, and potential drywall movement caused by the speaker’s acoustic output. The speaker wire should be routed through a 3/4-inch hole in the adjoining stud, and the opening should be sealed generously with flexible silicone construction caulk before the drywall and speaker are installed.

The manual specifies that the enclosure must be installed plumb, level, and flush with the framing. Any gaps should be shimmed and secured to prevent the studs from vibrating against the enclosure. Drywall should then be glued and screwed to the enclosure before the IWTS-155 LCR is installed.
