ATC - SIA2-150 - 2x100W Integrated Amplifier & DAC
Combining the discrete preamp circuits from the high-end SCA2 preamplifier and ATCs renowned MOSFET class A/B power amplifiers, the SIA2-150 offers power and precision to the discerning music fan who wants a simple all-analogue solution to drive their passive loudspeakers.
Since the Company’s inception in 1974, ATC’s reputation for the design and manufacture of unique high performance hi-fi and professional audio products has become legendary, with new design concepts evolving and being perfected continually.
The Company was originally created by acoustic engineer, Billy Woodman, to produce custom drive units for the professional sound industry. However, by the end of the 70s ATC was manufacturing its own complete high end speaker systems – its monitors subsequently becoming the preferred choice for many of the world’s major recording studios and engineers.
Recognising the sonic benefits of active speaker systems, it was only natural that ATC should expand into innovative audio electronic product design. It all started in 1982 with the EC23, a stereo, 3-way electronic crossover incorporating phase correction and momentary gain reduction – features that are incorporated in all ATC active speaker systems to this day. The EC23 was the controller for all of ATC’s larger active speakers right up to the development in 1996 of the SPA24-850, a stand-alone stereo Amp Pack for the control and amplification of SCM200 and SCM300 monitors. But it was the development of ATC’s SCM50A active 3-way monitor in 1985 that changed everything.
This revolutionary loudspeaker featured a 3-channel amplifier that mounted directly to the rear of the cabinet. The amplifier comprised balanced input, 3-way active crossovers - incorporating phase correction - and three high performance power amplifiers: 200W bass, 100W mid-range and 50W high-frequency, each featuring momentary gain reduction. This technology is why all ATC active monitors have a flat magnitude response, an excellent minimum phase response and are factory-set to prevent the amplifiers from clipping when driven hard. There is nothing else that sounds better or offers such great value.
Fast forward to 1996 and ATC can be found designing and developing its first stand-alone hi-fi electronic product. At that time few preamplifiers were capable of driving the long lengths of cable often necessary to link electronics to active loudspeakers. In its ongoing quest for ultimate performance and value ATC’s solution was to develop a preamplifier that could! The result was the SCA2 – a true hi-fi preamplifier offering unparalleled audio performance, transparency and current drive ability.
Today, ATC’s portfolio of high-end audio electronic products continues to expand... from the breathtaking CA2 preamplifier to the exquisite P2 power amplifier. In 2011 the Company launched its first CD player, the CDA2, a design that also incorporated a preamplifier and DAC. In response to changing listening trends, in early 2018 the CDA2 was significantly upgraded and relaunched – the Mk2 model now boasting the latest high performance CD drive technology and USB interface allowing playback of extremely high resolution PCM and DSD audio.
Seen as a further evolution of this highly acclaimed digital source is ATC’s new stand-alone CD player, the CD2, which has been designed in parallel with a matching 100W integrated amplifier, the SIA2-100. Offering a built-in high resolution asynchronous USB interface the amplifier also incorporates a premium AKM stereo 32-bit DAC. These outstanding components offer music lovers an exceptional combination of performance and functionality.
Built to give a lifetime of service and musical enjoyment, all ATC products carry a six year Manufacturer's Warranty.
